マージェリー・アリンガム

Template:文学 マージェリー・ルイーズ・アリンガム（Margery Louise Allingham、1904年5月20日 - 1966年6月30日）は、イギリスの推理作家である。別名のマックスウェル・マーチ（Maxwell March）名義でも作品を発表している。

文学性に富んだその作品の数々は、作中に登場する探偵役のアルバート・キャンピオンとともに評価が高い。アガサ・クリスティ、ドロシー・L・セイヤーズと並ぶイギリスの代表的な女性推理作家のひとりである。

経歴

1904年ロンドン近郊に生まれる。小説・出版関係者の多い一族の間で育ったため、幼少期にものを書くことを覚えた。ケンブリッジの女子校を卒業してポリテクニックに進学した。1923年に冒険小説を発表、ついで推理小説を本格的に書き始めることになる。

1927年に幼なじみのイラストレーターで装丁家のフィリップ・ヤングマン・カーター（Philip Youngman Carter）と結婚する。カーターはアリンガムの作品の装丁を担当し、共作も行っている。二人は1931年にエセックス州へ移住し、生涯そこで暮らした。

イギリス推理文壇の有力者の一人で親睦団体のディテクションクラブの設立に参加した。
